By making or proceeding with a booking with Katie’s – Weardale Dog Grooming, you confirm that you have been informed that these Terms & Conditions apply to your booking and agree to be bound by them to the extent permitted by law.

1. Application of These Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made with Katie’s – Weardale Dog Grooming, regardless of how the booking is made, including:

Text or messaging services

Email

In person

Social media

Third‑party booking platforms

Where bookings are made online, customers will be asked to confirm acceptance of these Terms.
​
Where bookings are made by other methods, customers will be informed that these Terms apply and will be given reasonable access to them via the website or upon request.
​
If a specific written agreement is made directly between Katie’s – Weardale Dog Grooming and the customer, that agreement will take precedence where it conflicts with these Terms.
​
A current copy of these Terms & Conditions is available on the business website and upon request.

2. Appointments
​
Appointments are reserved specifically for your dog based on the information provided at the time of booking.
​
Please ensure your dog is ready at the agreed appointment time.
​
Owners must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, injuries, behavioural issues, or other circumstances that may affect grooming.
​
All dogs are assessed individually, and grooming requirements will be discussed where necessary.
​
3. Cancellations & Rescheduling
​
Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours before the scheduled time without charge.
​
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, missed appointments, or failure to contact us regarding a missed appointment will result in a 50% charge.
​
This reflects the time reserved for your dog and the difficulty of filling appointments at short notice.
​
4. Payment
​
Payment is due at the time of the appointment.
Additional charges may apply for:

Severe matting
-
Excessive coat condition
-
Fleas or parasites
-
Additional cleaning
-
Extra time required
​
Where reasonably possible, additional charges will be discussed with the owner before work is carried out.
​
5. Your Dog’s Health & Medical Conditions
​
Owners are responsible for informing Katie of any medical conditions, allergies, sensitivities, injuries, medications, or previous reactions to grooming equipment or products.
​
Katie will take reasonable care of every dog, but grooming carries unavoidable risks, particularly where a dog has an underlying or undisclosed condition.
​
If Katie believes continuing a groom would put a dog at risk, she may stop or alter the groom.
​
6. Matted or Neglected Coats
​
Severely matted coats may require clipping very short for the dog’s welfare.
​
Owners understand that matting can conceal irritated or damaged skin. Once matting is removed, previously hidden areas may become visible and may be more vulnerable to irritation.
​
Katie will take reasonable care, but cannot guarantee removal of severe matting without some risk of skin irritation or minor injury.
​
Veterinary attention may be recommended where appropriate.
​
Owners are responsible for any veterinary costs relating to pre‑existing conditions or complications from matting, except where caused by negligence.
​
7. Behaviour & Handling
​
Owners must disclose any history of aggression, biting, fear, anxiety, or difficulty being handled.
If a dog becomes distressed, aggressive, or unsafe, the groom may be stopped or modified.
A muzzle or safe handling method may be used if appropriate.
​
If grooming cannot be completed safely, the owner remains responsible for payment for the time and work carried out.
​
8. Fleas, Ticks & Parasites
​
If fleas, ticks, or other parasites are discovered, the groom may be stopped or adjusted.
Additional cleaning or treatment charges may apply.
​
Owners are responsible for ensuring their dog receives appropriate parasite treatment.
​
9. Collection of Your Dog
​
Dogs must be collected promptly at the agreed time.
​
A £5 charge per 10 minutes will apply for late collection:

1–10 minutes late: £5

11–20 minutes late: £10
-
21–30 minutes late: £15
​
Repeated late collection may result in future appointments being declined.
​
10. Photos & Reviews
​
With the owner’s permission, Katie may take photographs or videos for:

Before‑and‑after images
-
Customer reviews
-
Business promotion
-
Social media
​
No personal information will be shared.
​
If you do not want photos or videos used, please inform Katie.
​
11. Accidents, Illness & Emergencies
​
Katie takes reasonable care with every dog, but grooming carries inherent risks.
If a dog becomes unwell or injured, Katie may contact the owner or seek veterinary assistance if necessary.
​
Owners authorise Katie to seek emergency veterinary help if they cannot be reached.
Veterinary costs relating to illness, pre‑existing conditions, or complications are the owner’s responsibility unless caused by negligence.
​
12. Personal Belongings
​
Owners should remove valuable collars, harnesses, clothing, or accessories before grooming.
Katie cannot accept responsibility for ordinary wear, damage, or loss unless caused by negligence.

13. Right to Refuse or Stop a Groom
​
Katie may refuse, postpone, or stop a groom if she reasonably believes continuing would be unsafe or detrimental, including where:

The dog poses a safety risk

Health concerns make grooming unsafe

Severe matting prevents safe grooming

Important information has not been disclosed

Veterinary attention is required

14. Liability

Katie’s – Weardale Dog Grooming is fully insured and takes reasonable care of every dog.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.
​
Katie is not responsible for costs arising from pre‑existing conditions, undisclosed issues, severe matting, or behaviour outside her control, except where caused by negligence.

By booking, the customer confirms:
